Rules

The objective is to light up all white cells, subject to the following rules:

Lightbulbs shine every cell vertically and horizontally until they reach a black cell or the boundary.

Numbers in some black cells denote the number of lightbulbs in adjacent cells.

The great thing about Akari puzzles is they are easily customisable to fit in with stories and other concepts too! Just ask any AI if you’re stuck for ideas…

Light up the city: Imagine that you are a city planner tasked with lighting up all the streets and buildings in a city. Each cell on the grid represents a block or intersection, and you need to place the light bulbs strategically to ensure that every street and building is illuminated without any dark spots.
Rescue the lost hikers: Imagine that you are a rescue team leader searching for a group of hikers who got lost in the wilderness. The grid represents the area where they were last seen, and you need to place the light bulbs to mark the safe paths and avoid the dangerous areas, such as cliffs or rivers.
Solve the mystery: Imagine that you are a detective investigating a crime scene at night. The grid represents the room where the crime took place, and you need to place the light bulbs to illuminate the clues and find out who did it.
Decorate the garden: Imagine that you are a gardener who wants to create a beautiful garden at night. The grid represents the garden beds, and you need to place the light bulbs to highlight the flowers and trees without over-illuminating or casting shadows on the other areas.
Guide the spaceship: Imagine that you are a spaceship captain navigating through a dark asteroid field. The grid represents your radar screen, and you need to place the light bulbs to detect the asteroids and avoid collisions, while also conserving your energy and avoiding detection by hostile ships.

Or some ideas from me…

You need to make sure the garden is protected by strategically placing alarms/dogs to guard it.
Underwater exploration. You need to place underwater divers to make sure the entire space is explored
Artic camp. You need to strategically place heaters to ensure the entire camp stays warm at night.
